Although I hate seeing these threads with people complaining on the state of the game, i'm starting to agree with every thread and i'm starting to lose interest in the game. And i've only had it for 4 weeks almost.

well the patch helps...atleast now they give some money for crappy dyes that take up inventory space instead of 25g i get proportional payments...its a start to success cant keep bashing on Anet they realize this problem too and are probably working hard to fix it...
but i do admit there is a roleplaying aspect to this game that is missing...which is sad considering this is a popular mmo...i guess you do have to pay big bucks for games like WoW if you want the complete experience...for the rest of us theres guild wars

That's the case for the Material trader perhaps, but at what price does the Rare Material trader buy fur? The trick with materials trading is to check both traders. They do not offer the same price. The other night, I cashed out about 60 steel ingots -- to the Material Trader. He was offering ~2.1K / 10, while the Rare Material Trader was only offering something like 130gp ea. You just have to check both for the best price.

this doesn't kill the market. it leveled the playing feild.
everyone that bought items have now removed the gold from the game reducing the amount of gold overall which will help with inflation. more gold in market less its worth that money 101.
now the market has a healthy supply of each item from the players. since the players have so many no one will be buying from merchants seeing as players sell for less, again helping with inflation.
now that prices are fixed where the merchant will give you are 2/3 the price he is selling it for it should stablize. i know when he bought my common materials for 80g+ i would unload my entire inventory because it took about 5 minutes compare to hours of spamming and competeting with other players for sales.
only thing that i have noticed about people complaining about this the guy that had 100+ ecto that used to be worth 15k is not worth 5k. you had plenty of time to prepare for this. it was in the state of the game letter. we all knew that prices where going to be fixed and they were at the highest they probly ever will be. the smart people sold it all off before the reset and bought it back from merchants at a lower price to replace the inventory.

You know something truly funny?
No matter what the subject matter is, not even this game as a whole, when people are no longer interested or passionate about something, why do they feel the need to scream their finality to a text box, on an internet site for people who retain their passion and interest?
It's like if a Soviet Nuclear submarine was going to defect, but made sure all the god damned brass know about it the day before, which of course could not POSSIBLY, by ANY stretch of the imagination cause a swift murder spree now could it?
If you are gonna go, go already! Spare gwguru the bandwidth and martial tedium!

The only problem with this type of situation is that the influx of items is unreliable, while the influx of gold into the economy is reliable. It is compounded by the fact that there is not a stable drain of gold back out of the economy. This causes the situation to plateau instaed of recess back into a state of being "normal".

I do wonder whether people are using bots to buy out the superior runes. I find it difficult to believe a human being would sit for hours checking rune prices and buying as soon as one hits the market.
My bet for the next round of bot slaying: Runebots.

Admittedly I bought my fair share of cheap stuff, but who cares? I already had stuff saved up. So does it make it any better? Of course not, but if I didn't then I would be at a "disadvantage" against every other guy that was doing the same thing. So how does that help the game. Forcing guys with hundreds of thousands of gold into thinking that they HAVE to buy things just to keep up with the Jones?
|
Huh? Just how much stuff did you have saved up? 0.o I've been playing for 3 months and after seeing prices soar to unreasonable levels, it's nice to be able to get some things again.
Ok, I'm fighting really hard not to turn to pure sarcasm here... You said people with hundreds of thousands of gold were forced to buy things -- how were you forced to hoard? Did you hoard before and now feel you got shafted or something? I really don't understand.

When the economy of a game starts overrinding the PLAYING of the game then it is in serious trouble.
I do not see how this helped anyone out in the long run.
|
That was exactly why something had to be done -- the economy was overriding the playing of the game. Did ANet have to implement the fix as they did? Probably not. Could they have done it better? Probably. It could have been even worse too. I do not see how people being able to afford things (and possibly hoarders getting screwed over) does anything but help in the long run.

Again, dead because (most) things are affordable again? Dead because you can play the game and not have to spend 12 hours a day for a week to afford one lousy, inconsequential item? Dead because the traders are making a little more sense now? Or maybe it'll be "dead" because all the kiddies are going back to school. Good... maybe that'll leave more room for mature people who just want to play and enjoy this game.
I'm sorry, but I don't really understand all this complaining. I can understand people's frustration for having to work so hard to get things that may (or may not) be easy to get now, but overall it sounds like the complaint is "I have too much gold now" or "That other guy has too much gold now". And I'm speaking as a poor person here (4k in storage).... I don't understand why it matters? It seems if anything, this game's future just got that much brighter. *shrugs*

The market will eventually equalize. I read a few complaints about low prices of fur. In answer to those posts, although selling at less than 100 is crap, it will get higher. Why, you ask? Simple answer, lots of people would eagerly buy for those prices. As they do, the buy price will go up until people see fit to start selling to them again. The buy-sell link now means that the casual non-farmer can actually obtain good items.

Would be funny if anet made it so the merchants resets themself every night at say 00.00 or something like 3 days a week or so, oh oh poor farmers of last night. If thats the case i guess the chinese farmers have to work even harder to buyout all superiors, so they can sell them at ebay for like 100$ irl cash.
hehe.

You still don't understand anything. The new prices are GOOD, the problem is THAT SOME PLAYERS BOUGHT STOCKS OF ECTOS SHARDS RUNES AT 100 GOLD EACH SO NOW THEY HAVE MORE THAN 1000 ECTOS IN 5 MINUTES WHILE WE HAVE 5000 TIMES LESS IN MONTHS OF FARMING OK NP CYA
sorry for the caps :<

please note that i missed by logging out by 20 minutes before the fun started
i am exactly where i was before i didnt get rich
i can afford anything i need and the ectos are just as far out of reach now as before it happened
for me nothing has changed
the game is still fun but i do admit that it would be fun to be filthy rich.
on the other hand as i said i am really no worse off and may profit from better economy in the future

I understand, I just don't care. If someone got rich, GL HF to him/her. This isn't a "who gets the most money in 3 days" -competition.
Oh and before anyone points fingers
-I got less than 20k in the vault
-I only bought 4 major vigors for my characters yesterday (yes, I would have taken advantage of sup. runes and ectos if I had had the chance)

Flame bait edited out by mod: Next one will be deleted. Stick to the topic without personal attacks.
It's simple if nobody buys their future updates except the people who exploited the low prices, Anet will close down. The game cannot be sustained by a handful of clowns singing praises to Anet.
